Signature Ear Protection

What is NIHL?

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is one of the most common types. NIHL is characterized by irreversible damage to the inner ear and is caused by prolonged exposure to loud noise.

The decibel chart below can help you understand what’s considered to be dangerously loud sounds.

The use of ear protection is highly recommended to prevent hearing loss caused by  85dB and louder environments.

The dBA scale pictured below demonstrates some instances where hearing protection is needed.

All EarMax products have a noise reduction rating (NRR) greater than 20 dB which is perfect for most harmful sounds. However, damaging loud sounds like concerts and fireworks shouldn’t be constant and should be minimized.
